What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
In just over a week, England produces enough rubbish to fill Wembley stadium. The new Wembley encloses 4,000,000 m3 (cubic metres) inside its walls and under its roof. This is the equivalent of 25,000 double decker buses or 7 billion pints of milk. Over half of that waste can be recycled. (Source: DETR). In the UK only 3% of waste that goes to landfill is made up of packaging.
There are a growing amount of ways to increase the way you recycle.
So what are you all doing to help reduce carbon emissions amongst us teenagers? Reply back and tell everyone how you help the environment

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
Global warming is increasing and we need to use alternate sources of energy. Climates are changing and ice in the poles is melting making the sea level higher.
We need to start recycling a lot than ever before. We need to sacrifice some of our time to save our planet. We can't be selfish
Our Maltese government started with a project by choosing a day every week where people put things outside their house for recycling and are gathered for the recycling plant. I think it is good plan to help more people to recycle.
There other things that we can do but the government and the citizens have to pull the same rope.

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
Yeah, i think the governtments are a little slow in response, as i suppose they have a budgets set aside for recyciling and rubbish collections as do local counsil. They should realise that improvements to this area will actually bring them a surplus. Having said that i think recycling has a long way to go in terms of improving the useability of the reclaimed materials. We should be speeding up development and refining further. Something the E.U should be playing in.
Its been said that actually seperating materials at recycling plants causes more pollution. Here in london we have two choices one in our borough (westminster) allows us to put anything recyable into a black box which the team picks up everyweek OR Recycle Banks(bins) which are marked for each material. Glass for bottles, plastics, card etc. If you have a similiar method in your location you should take advantage of it as most people have done for a while

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
Our governments need to start paying more attention to our environment. We can't continue to be ignorant about the effect it is have on our global climate. We can't aford to keep having the debate weather it is us or is it natural. I don't care I just want all the leaders in the world to come together and put aside their difference and solve the problem. This has to be a world wide action/plan. In the meanwhile, we a switched to fluorescent light bulbs in our home. If you have not I encourage you to due your part as well.

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
I do it simple like throwing my trash in the proper waste bin... I avoid littering... I support environmentalist in keeping the surroundings clean... I even joined a club called, Earth Keepers, it is a group composed of people who do activities such as tree planting and soup kitchen... I love the environment so I'm trying to save it.

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
I'm a mixed bag on the enviromental front.
I do admit that I do drive a car, as the sole occupant, every day. However, I do get really annoyed at people who leave lights, TV's, Computer Screen's on etc. I'm also pro energy saving products, like lightbulbs. However, seeing as 1 energy bulb cost's as much as 3 standard bulbs, there still not much incentive (yes I know you save money on the running cost's with energy bulbs, but still!)
Also, at this exact moment (2:50am) I do have 2 computers on (1's a server though), and 2 laptops on.

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
In order to get Joe Everyman to take this seriously there has to be a major plus side for him. Lets say there was a green tax, and the greener your how is the less you pay? ( I mean green as environmental, I would never paint my house green)

Re: What are you doing to help the save the enviroment?
But your house would look good green
Yeah I agree, I think the government should give you some incentive towards going green. Like subsidising energy efficient products.
